Revel in the beauty and culture of one of the most exciting cities in Europe as you join SCMS Artistic Director James Ehnes and Ludovic Morlot, Barcelona Symphony Music Director and Conductor Emeritus of the Seattle Symphony. We will attend two performances of this all-American program featuring Leonard Bernstein’s Serenade with James Ehnes as violin soloist and Gershwin’s classic American in Paris. This highly curated trip will feature two other music highlights, Puccini’s first great success, Manon Lescaut, at the renowned Teatre del Liceu, and a recital at the fabulous art nouveau Palau de la Música by the great Russian pianist Elizabeth Leonskaya.
We will visit some of Barcelona’s incomparable attractions, typified by the stunning modernista architecture of Antoni Gaudì, museums dedicated to Pablo Picasso and Joan Mirò, as well as an excursion to the lovely home of the great cellist Pablo Casals overlooking the Mediterranean. Our 5-star accommodations at the Grand Hotel Central are ideally situated in the city’s medieval quarter, the Barri Gotic, near the walls of the ancient Roman city.
Great music, astonishing art, delicious food and wine, and great company—Olé!
